A milestone of pickup-arm engineering, designed from the ground up. Special grades of carbon fibre, bespoke laminates and a unique tube geometry give unprecedented stiffness — built to retrieve every detail from the groove with minimal distortion.
Special grades of carbon fibre, bespoke laminates and a unique tube geometry deliver an even higher stiffness in the SAT range.
Cardanic main and secondary yokes in stainless steel with a non-stiction sealed vertical bearing, on an aluminium base with a clamping mechanism.
The CF1 carbon fibre tube pushes its natural modes high and quiet — first and second resonances at 4 030 Hz and 9 000 Hz.
The CF1 armtube is built from a 24% stiffer grade of carbon fibre than the LM, and the tube itself is larger. A larger section resists bending exponentially better — so together, material and geometry raise the tube's stiffness well beyond the LM's.
The yokes, arm pillar and general structure are machined from stainless steel instead of the LM's aluminium — roughly three times as stiff, so the structure carrying the bearings deflects three times less under the same force.
The titanium evolution of the CF1 — a titanium tube inside the carbon-fibre armtube and a titanium headshell frame, for even greater stiffness. The bearing stiffness has also been increased while keeping it non-stiction and frictionless. Offered in 9″ and 12″, reserved for owners of the XD1 turntable.
In the areas where the CF1 uses carbon fibre with aluminium, the CF1-Ti replaces it with space-grade titanium — increasing stiffness 65%, with an elastic modulus of about 114 GPa against aluminium's 69 GPa, deflecting nearly 40% less under the same load.
Titanium is also roughly 1.7 times heavier than aluminium, so the CF1-Ti carries a tungsten-alloy counterweight insert to balance the added mass. Tungsten alloy is one of the densest engineering materials — denser than lead, yet hard and completely stable.
