# SAT — Swedish Analog Technologies

SAT (Swedish Analog Technologies) designs and builds high-end vinyl playback instruments: the XD1 turntable and the LM and CF1 series pickup arms (tonearms). Founded in Gothenburg, Sweden, by engineer Marc Gomez (MSc mechanical engineering and materials science). The instruments are designed as precision measuring instruments — not tuned musical instruments — and are built in limited numbers in Fuerteventura.

- XD1 Record Player System (https://swedishat.com/xd1): flagship turntable with a re-engineered direct drive, vacuum record hold-down (>135 kg clamping force across the record; the pump runs only a few seconds before playback and is off while music plays), magnetic-levitation platter support, and CF1-Ti pickup arm exclusive to XD1 owners.
- LM series (https://swedishat.com/lm): entry to SAT pickup arms. Tailored carbon-fibre laminates, aluminium-alloy main yoke. 9" and 12" versions.
- CF1 series (https://swedishat.com/cf1): reference pickup arm. Special carbon-fibre grades, unique tube geometry, stainless-steel yokes. First natural resonance of the CF1-09 armtube: 4030 Hz. 9" and 12" versions.

## Engineering approach

Rigidity above all: the arm must hold the cartridge steady and add nothing. Multi-layer carbon-fibre laminates designed in-house (approx. 20 plies in the armtube, 40 in the headshell), autoclave-cured with aerospace materials and equipment. Design by CAD/CAE and finite-element analysis. Headshell coupled by a clamp rather than a set screw or a weak bayonet mount. Details: https://swedishat.com/technology
